It all began with a customer’s request: a 1226-kV bushing for an HVDC project with 12 GW transmission power. To meet this need, HSP had to grow beyond its organizational, cultural, technical, and innovative limits. Neither a suitable factory nor the necessary equipment existed at the start of the project. While the new facility was under construction, the prototype 1226-kV bushing was being built at the existing factory. This required a completely new strategy, which HSP successfully implemented with a great deal of professionalism, human power, and creativity – and in close cooperation with the customer, suppliers, and other partners – in only 18 months. The project duration was significantly reduced and all of the bushings were delivered in 2018.
HSP was the only manufacturer in the world bold enough to support this customer project: manufacturing 1226-kV DC bushings using RIP technology, although no suitable production facility was in place when the project began.
